Webcourse/Group Purchase Orders

Overview:

The developers of the ESI five level triage acuity rating system have created the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Web-based educational program. This is the only course offered by the ESI developers who have spent over 10 years conducting the research to develop, validate and revise the tool. We have also spent many years consulting and providing education to hundreds of ED nurses and physicians, as well as individual institutions who wish to implement ESI. The course was developed based upon this experience. We also heard, loud and clear, that a low cost, convenient method of obtaining ESI education was critical. As the developers of ESI, we believe you will find this course to have excellent value. We designed the pricing structure specifically for emergency departments with limited budgets for education. This pricing structure should provide most hospitals with the opportunity to provide official education from the developers of ESI at minimal cost. The course will allow participants to print a certificate of course completion after they have finished the post-test. This course is affordable, interactive, and developed by the developers of ESI. The pricing structure is listed below and designed to give discounts to hospitals that wish to have multiple nurses complete the online training. An individual, or in the case of an institutional license, an institution will be given a user name and password that will be valid for the number of users that are “purchased” in a “pack”. For example, if an institution purchases a 25 pack for $475, 25 different nurses will be able to log on and take the course, and print a certificate of completion. After 25 users, the passwords and login will no longer work.

Purchase Orders:

Our team collaborated with V-Call to create this interactive course. We are confident that this web course will provide professionals who are new to ESI with a strong foundation, and experienced ESI users with a comprehensive review of the core principles. This program highlights some of the nuances of the system that novices can find challenging. We have incorporated the segments of the official ESI handbook and training DVD, as well as developed numerous learning activities to reinforce some of the key concepts or critical decision points. In summary, the course was designed by practicing emergency nurses, physicians, nurses, and educators who know who emergency providers want!

This program is designed to be self-paced. We encourage users to take their time, read the pdf materials embedded within the course, and complete all the online learning activities associated with the course. Once you have completed the post-test, you will be able to review your results and the course, but you will NOT be able to re-take the post-test. The course must be completed within 90 days of registration.

Thank you and enjoy!

A well-implemented ESI program will help hospital emergency departments rapidly identify patients in need of immediate attention, better identify patients who could safely and more efficiently be seen in a fast-track or urgent care center rather than the main ED, and more accurately determine thresholds for diversion of ambulance patients from the ED.

Each user will have 90 days to complete the course after they have registered. The course will provide education, based upon the users’ actual participation and completion of the learning activities. The certificate will state that the participant completed the course, but we cannot verify the level of understanding of the material. We strongly suggest individual emergency department nurse educators, managers, or clinical nurse specialists discuss the course with each participant, administer the post-test cases from the Implementation Manual, and determine actual "competency" by observation at triage and review of "real" triage cases.

Please note that you will only be given two chances to take the post test. Your final results will be posted on your certificate. You may return to the course to review the material before taking the test for a final time. Once you take the test for the second time that final score will show on your certificate.
